Do you ever notice how often people respond to the image of a beautiful woman by saying "she's lucky, she's got good genes."? They say it to emphasize that the woman is just lucky, that fate has gifted her with the 'good genes' for bone structure, body weight, eye color, and a host of other attributes that make her beautiful. Yet they never say that about a concert pianist or a nuclear physicist. When's the last time someone said Einstein was lucky, that he had good genes? Genes may be responsible for some of the purely physical characteristics that define beauty, but only to a point. Just like someone with raw musical talent (or any other talent for that matter), what you do with it is up to you.
