Nikkala Stott: ravishing
The word 'ravish' can mean 3 different things, 1) to take a woman by force, 2) to plunder violently, 3) to fill with joy. The last one is closest to our meaning, but there doesn't seem to be any word in English, even though it happens in almost every romance novel ever written. A handsome and heroic man seizes upon and makes passionate love to a woman who is desparately in love with him and who teases and resists him as long as possible. The act is romantic, ecstatic even tantric for both the man and the woman due to the fact that they have waited until waiting becomes unbearable for both. 'Ravish' would be the perfect word for this, and that's how we mean it. For us, 'ravish' only makes perfect sense when all of its meanings are taken in a romantic context meaning 'to make passionate love to'.
